Privacy policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

This privacy policy (the “Policy”) sets out how Blue Slip Today (“BST”), a business name of PSA Automotive Pty Ltd (ABN 40 674 714 151), collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information. It applies to BST’s website (including online booking), telephone and text message lines and emails. By using any of them, an individual confirms that they have read this Policy, which forms part of BST’s terms and conditions.

1. Collection and use of personal information

BST collects the information it needs to quote for, book and carry out work, and to keep the individual concerned informed.

Information provided by individuals

  • Bookings: the individual’s name, mobile number and email address and, for the vehicle, its registration number (if it has plates), make and model, the inspection requested and the time chosen.
  • Questions, calls, text messages and other messages: the individual’s name, telephone number, email address if provided, and the information they provide.
  • Payments: the amount, the payment reference and whether the payment succeeded. Card details are transmitted directly to BST’s payment provider, and BST never sees the full card number.

An individual may ask BST a general question by telephone without identifying themselves. To make a booking, BST requires the individual’s name and a means of contacting them.

Information recorded in the course of the work

BST records details of the vehicle, its odometer and its vehicle identification number (VIN), together with the test results, the reports BST prepares and the inspection result. These records may include photographs of the vehicle.

Information collected automatically

BST measures how the website is used in order to fix problems and make it easier to use. The measurement cannot identify an individual. BST does not build a profile of any visitor, does not capture anything typed, and does not use automatic click capture, heatmaps or screen recordings. Page addresses are reduced before they are sent, so a suburb page or an article is recorded without identifying which one, and a confirmation is recorded without its payment reference.

The website also stores the following in the individual’s own browser: the light or dark display setting, an anonymous measurement identifier and a Google Ads click code if the individual arrived from one of BST’s advertisements.

The click code remains in the browser for up to 90 days. If the individual makes a booking or asks a question, the click code is sent with the request and saved on the job. When the job is completed, BST informs Google Ads using that code so that BST can identify which advertisements lead to work. The individual’s email address and mobile number are hashed (scrambled) before being included. Google handles the information it receives under its own privacy policy.

Information about other people

An individual who makes a booking for another person, such as a family member or an employee, should inform that person that their details are being provided to BST. Where another person makes a booking on an individual’s behalf, BST collects that individual’s details from the person making the booking.

Purposes of use

BST uses personal information:

  • to arrange and carry out the work, and to contact the individual about it, including booking confirmations by email and text message;
  • to send quotes, reports and invoices, and to take payment;
  • to lodge inspection results with Transport for NSW, as the inspection rules require;
  • to respond to questions;
  • to identify which pages and advertisements generate work, and to keep BST’s services secure; and
  • to keep the business and taxation records required by law.

2. Disclosure of personal information

Members of BST’s team have access to the information they need to carry out the individual’s job. Bookings and questions are held in the job management system BST shares with its sister business, Pink Slip Approach, which is also operated by PSA Automotive Pty Ltd.

Outside the business, BST discloses personal information to:

  • Transport for NSW, which receives every inspection result, and may examine BST’s records when auditing BST;
  • the service providers that operate the business: BST’s website host, payment provider, messaging providers for text messages and email, website measurement service and Google Ads, each of which receives only the information its part of the work requires;
  • BST’s accountant, lawyer or insurer when BST requires their assistance, and a debt collector if an invoice is not paid; and
  • any person BST is required or permitted by law to inform, such as the police or a regulator.

BST never sells personal information.

3. Choices and access

Marketing. BST does not send marketing emails or text messages from anything submitted on this website.

Cookies and browser storage. BST does not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. Clearing browser data removes the information the website stores in the browser.

Access and correction. An individual may request a copy of the personal information BST holds about them, or request that BST correct or delete it. There is no charge for making a request. BST will verify the individual’s identity and respond within a reasonable time. BST is required to retain certain records, such as invoices and inspection results lodged with Transport for NSW. If BST is unable to comply with a request, BST will explain why.

4. Security

All information sent to BST is transmitted over an encrypted connection, and access to customer records is restricted to the people who need it. Automated checks block spam and bots on BST’s forms, and repeated requests are limited using protected identifiers that do not contain the individual’s IP address, mobile number or email address.

If a data breach is likely to result in serious harm to an individual, BST will notify that individual and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as required by law.

5. Other websites

BST’s website contains links to other websites, such as Transport for NSW and online maps. Those websites are governed by their own privacy policies, not by this Policy.

6. Children

BST’s services are not directed at children. Anyone who believes that a person under 18 has provided personal information to BST without the knowledge of a parent or guardian should contact BST, and BST will delete any of that information it does not need to retain.

7. Retention

BST retains personal information for as long as it is needed for the work, for BST’s records and to meet legal requirements. For example, taxation law requires business records to be kept for five years. After that, BST deletes the information or removes the details that identify the individual.

8. Storage outside Australia

Some of the service providers BST uses store or process information outside Australia, principally in the United States. BST takes reasonable steps to ensure that they protect it.

9. Changes to this Policy

When BST changes how it handles personal information, BST will update this page and the date shown at the top.

10. Contact and complaints

Questions, requests and complaints about personal information may be sent to BST by email at info@bluesliptoday.com.au or by telephone on 1300 693 017.

An individual who is dissatisfied with how BST has handled their personal information should first raise the matter with BST, and BST will seek to resolve it. If the individual remains dissatisfied, they may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
